  [Br?derbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #4512, Date of Import: Nov 12, 2000] Hiram was elected to the National Saddle Horse Hall of Fame in 1964. Who's Who in Horsedom notes in its 1964 edition that the Greenwell family is the oldest in America handling saddle horses continuously--a fact attested to by a family line which shows George Washington Greenwell, father of the new Hall of Fame member and grandfather of Welch, was a saddle horse breeder before his death and burial in Georgetown, KY, in 1780--184 years ago.
