Apres avoir exerce sa profession d'avocat, pendant de nombreuses annees, a
New-Carlisle, a la baie des Chaleurs, l'hon. Juge Dube fut nomme juge de la
Cour Superieure et promu a la Cour d'Appel, poste qu'il occupe presentement.
Phileas Poirier, marie a Bonaventure, le 1st septembre 1846, a Sara Hamilton,
fille de Thomas et de Marguerite Hughes, eut un fils du nom de Thomas, ne a
Caplan, en 1854, qui espousa a Cascapedia (New-Richmond), le 14 juillet 1875,
Angelina LeBlanc, fille de Joseph et de Felicite-Valery Querry. Thomas
Poirier, grand-pere de l'hon. Juge Dube, eut douze enfants, dont dix filles. Il
est le pere de Flore Poirier, nee en 1884, la mere de l'hon. Juge Andre Dube.
La ferme de Thomas Poirier, a New-Richmond, etait situee en face de l'actuelle
Maison des Retraites Fermees, a Cap-Noir.

prisonnier a Ristigouche et detenu au fort Beausejour de 1760 a 1764.
He was in Ristigouche in 1760, and in Miquelon in 1767, after he was taken
prisoner in Ristigouche and held in fort Beausejour from 1760 to 1764.

Il y eut deux souches distinctes de Poirier a Beaubassin: Michel Poirier, fils
de Jehan Poirier, de Port Royal, dont nous donnons la genealogie en premier
lieu et Michel Poirier dit de France, probablement son cousin, dont la
genealogie suit celle du premier Michel Poirier.
The 1671 Census of Port Royal shows Michel as a bachelor and a plowman with no
land or sheep but with 2 head of cattle.
In the Census of 1686, he is still living at Beaubassin (now Amherst)
with 5 sons and 1 daughter.
The Census of 28 Aug. 1714 he is still living at Beaubassin with 3 other sons.
In 1760 the family was living in Ristigouche.

wife and five children. It is most probable that he went to Louisianna.

the St. Antoine River near Port Royal, along with Pierre TERRIOT, and this town
later became Grand Pre. He was apparently well-educated and practiced as a

In the 1885 Minnesota Census, the family was living in Duluth with Agnes, age
3 yrs, 12 mo.
The 1890 census shows Margaret living in Duluth, MN with three children. Though
the census shows her as a widow, her grandaughter, Marie recalls that she was
told that her husband, Albert, deserted her and left her with three children.
The 1895 census showed that Margaret had five children.
I have no knowledge of any other children.
She immigrated into the US in 1880. Her father and mother came from Ireland.

keep equipment working. He gave up farming to work for the Santa Fe Railway as
a telegrapher. He moved to Ludlow, CA and later to Lenwood, (near Barstow) and
then to a house he built near Barstow.
