Story goes that John was an indian chief and was murdered by a tribe of bad ind ians that chased the band out of Canada in 1885 through Maine and settling in F lorida. Cannook was the name we were told. Found the tribe Cakhonk in the Iroqu ois Nation with no information available in 1999. Also the family believes that Matilder is 100% Cherokee Indian.

John married Bertrand, Domitile Matilda Chateaugay, New York. Domitile (daughter of Bertrand, Constant and Berthiaume, Marie Louise) was born 1836, Canada. [Group Sheet]
