    LDS church records have listed this Rene as the father of Rene Landry, married to Marie Bernard, and sealed them as father and son. The following is from the Landry family history as recorded in "The Genealogist" magzine from the ACGS, Vol. V, no.2, Aug 1, 1979, issue no.10;
"There were two Rene Landrys, who are the ancestors of our family in Acadia. They both came there about 1645. They probably came, as has been proven for many of Acadian families, from the vicinity of LaChausse, department de Vienne, France. So far it has not been possible to establish any blood relationship between the two men. The first was born in France in 1618, married Perrine Bourg in 1639, and he had five known children. The second rene was born in 1634, married Marie Bernard in 1659, they had fifteen children. These two Renes are certainly the ancestors of all the Acadian Landrys."
Additionally; "The settlement of Grand Pre began about 1680 with the arrival of Paul Melanson from Port Royal, where he had married Cecile Landry, the daughter of Rene and Marie Bernard. Two of Cecile's brothers, Antoine and Claude, joined them in 1682. They were truly the founders of Grand Pre."

Prrine Bourg was married twice. She married Simon Pelletret inabout1639-40 and Ren Landry in about 1645. Perrine Bourg was the sisterofAntoine Bourg who was married to Antoinette Landry, sister ofPerrine'ssecond husband, René Landry.

Census records are about the only source of Perrine's age. If agesarederived from the census, Perrine was born between 1612 (1686census)and 1626 (1693 census), with the only other age mentioned in the1671census which puts her birth at about 1619. The only safeassumption(barring any hard evidence) is that Perrine was born between1612 and1626. [RLL 29 Jan 2002]

Marie Salle bp. in theTemple at Larochelle, means that she was a Calvinist..
    -------------------------------------
On the subject of Jehan Claud being an Amerindian, Father d'Entremont in his
"Histoire de Cape-Sable de l'an Mil au Traite de Paris" 1763, vol 3, p. 1124,
writes that Marie Salé married a Mic-Mac Indian by the name of Jean Claude.
"The Mic Mac family by the name of Claud apparently was joined with the
Acadian families since the beginning of the history of Acadia. Its members
have continued their Acadian relationship up to today, mostly in the southwest
of Nova Scotia and on the east coast. Today they are known under the name of
Glaude and is seen written as Glode or Glod.. Jehan Claude and Marie Salé
constitute a rare case, in Acadia of a pure blooded French person marrying a
    pure blooded Amerindian."

I cannot find the quotation, but I recall his stating that although rare,
there were incidences of a marriage between an European caucasion woman
    marrying an Amerindian.
    -----------------------------------------
There is a Marie Salesse b: 23 Feb 1597, Sedan, Ardennes, France. She
may be the same person as this Marie Sale. Father listed as Jacob Salesse, Mother listed as Jeanne Sacre.
Marriage date also listed as 1625 - this probably is not correct, given the birthdate of her daughter.
